I put together two PC's and neither will allow XP to install permanently. I
get it installed and working fine on my network and once they are shut down
or have to be rebooted, I lose the XP install and it goes through the install
but will only run with the SYSTEM DISC installed. I have tried changing the
order of the boot in the BIOS but it still asks for the SYSTEM DISC. I am at
a total loss as to what to do next.

In recovery console you need to:
run fixboot to write the bootsector
run fixmbr to write the master boot record
