I currently have this set up

WAN goes into router and the router routes the conection to two PCs both
running XP.

I want to set up an intranet (then move it to a larger scale) on this
network. I install Microsofts ISS but cannot get the other PC to see the
webpages hosted by the other computer.

I read something about host files and setting up DNS and stuff but theres no
clear sigh of what I need to do.

Can anyone recommend what i need to do

On the 'other PC' try:

http://<IPaddressofIIScomputer>

If that works, you can try host headers and/ hosts files;

Remember XP IIS only hosts one web site.
