Hit counters stop working with new hosting service

T

Tim

I've just moved a DRAFT site to PRODUCTION, and also from Comcast.net to
1&1.

I made NO edits before PUBLISHING through FP. Everything works fine, except
my hit counters won't increment.

I've looked in the _Private folders and see the cnt files but they are
marked with the red x as do not publish. I'm guessing that when I PUBLISHED
to the new server the old files just got copied across.

Any thoughts about what happened?

Thanks,
Tim

I like the color scheme.
Try deleting it and redoing it. You also have the digits set to 3 right now. Reset it to whatever you had for last hits.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean delete the counter,. re-publish, and then re-insert the counter
and re-publish? Makes sense; I'll try.

Digits have ALWAYS been 3. No change.

Just deleted-publish-inserted-publish. Also changed the counter from 3 to 4
digits. --- NO JOY.

And, looking at the cnt file on their server, it's not being changed. I'm
wondering of there is a folder properties thing going on here. Hmmmmm.

Yes
I've always found deleting and redoing it just as easy as the other method.
Always 3? I wonder what happens when it hits 999 Will it go on to 000 or 1000? Never tried it.

Have your host check the permissions on the _private folder.

Tim's change from 3 dig to 4 dig shows up but my browser is definitely barfing on the counter showing up- but not incrementing.
