when i go to websites and i delete the history
some of them still show up in the location bar and no
matter what i do they wont go away

Sorry to work over this old topic again, but I'm having what seems to
be the same problem -- a corrupted history folder that needs to be
deleted.

Problem is, I can't delete it. I've been able to clean out most of
its contents manually through the DOS box, but there are still several
folders that won't let me delete them, and when I try to delete the
root history folder, I get a message saying it's a protected Windows
folder.

My understanding is I need to log on as administrator, but I can't
figure out how. I'm using Windows XP Pro at home, with my account
having full administrative rights.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Laura
