Never got an answer to my question posted a couple of days ago, so thought I
would try again.......

every time I restart my computer, all the history files are deleted. Running
Windows 2000 on a Compaq Armada E500.I've tried all the usual things-
clearing out cache, running ie6 repair tool, deleting index.dat files, temp
files, etc. To no avail, history files are still deleted every restart! All
my cookies and temporary internet files are still there. Any ideas?

Try the following and see if it helps:

Enable Auto-Complete:

Tools>Internet Options>Content tab>click Autocomplete
Check all the boxes for features you want to use
Click Apply
Then OK

or....

Enable the History:

Tools> General>set number of days to keep History to however many days you
wish to keep your History.
Then in the Temporary Internet Files secton on the General Tab click
Settings
Under Temporary Internet Folder>move the slider to the right about hapf way,
just to see how that works for you in terms of how much space you want to
allot for the History files.

or...............

IE History Damaged - Won't work

Or... Your History folder may be damaged.

You might need to delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP, and a new one will be created when you
restart.

Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
See: How To Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files:

or.......

Sometimes things don't work as they should. Re-create a new History Folder;
perhaps it's become corrupt.

Or try installing TweakUI.

Then Paranoia tab> clear IE history at log-on.(You may also select it, and
click clear now.)

or..........

If you've been using a method of cleaning files and stuff out of the
Content.IE5 folder other than the use of IE Options>delete files>delete all
off-line content> OK>OK out. Stop doing that. The aforementioned process of
using IE Options is the only safe and prescribed way of cleaning. (other
than the DOS Deltree command)

or..................

To create a new History Forlder

Or try installing TweakUI.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps
