every time I restart my computer, all the history files are deleted. Running
Windows 2000 on a Compaq Armada E500.I've tried all the usual things-
clearing out cache, running ie6 repair tool, deleting index.dat files, temp
files, etc. To no avail, history files are still deleted every restart! All
my cookies and temporary internet files are still there. Any ideas?

When did the problem begin?

Which 2000 SP?

On re-boot or when you close IE? Open IE. Browse. Close
all instances of IE.

Report the results.

Yes, thank-you for the reply. I just noticed this problem a few days ago. I
have not used this computer (Armada E500) for several months because I got a
new Sony Vaio.Unfortunately a soft drink was spilled into the keyboard of
the new Sony, so it had to be sent off for repair. Consequently, I am again
using the E500 until I get the Sony back. I updated virus definitions and
everything else that needed to be updated. Everthing is working fine except
concerning this issue of the history being deleted.

It only happens when the computer is restarted or rebooted. Running Windows
2000 with SP 4. Simply closing the browser has no effect on the history. It
stays there until I have to restart the computer. And voila.... no history
once again!

FYI a certain virus scanner is notorious for interfering with History...
