History and saving accounts

I just installed BCM from CD --

#1 how can I tell what version of BCM I currently have installed? In
outlook, Help | About shows no reference; just About Microsoft Office
Outlook (yes, the full menu is expanded).

#2 (again, I'm new), when I try to create a new contact/account (or look at
an existing contact/account that was copied over from my outlook contacts),
the History pane is filled with all email in my Inbox. Should this not be
empty so I can associate the messages??

Beyond this, when I click the Add... button for History, the button simply
depresses, but nothing happens. Same for the Business Contacts button.

#3 I'm trying to create a new Account (just naming it Test under Account
Name field). When I save it, I get a message:
"The File As field for this contact is empty. You may not have
entered a name or company..."
I see no File As field! And I'm pretty sure I named it "Test".

I think knowing that I have the most recent version is important - How?

I'm trying to follow online help, but some of my screens appear different
than are shown. Oh Microsoft...

The quickest answer is to go to my website and follow the links to update to
the current release.
E-mail from inbox is a sign that BCM is disabled
The fact that you seem to have no Business Tools menu also suggests your BCM
is disabled
To re-enable, please go to Help -> About -> Disabled items

It's a common issue. Update to BCM V2 Update SP3 and let us know if the
problem persists.

Leonid,

That was it. Thank you!! That was exactly it. BCM was somehow disabled
after installing, before I even had a chance to work with it. All seems to
work now, thank you. Well, I'm just starting in to learn it now anyway --
seems to be working. :)
