Highlighter Problem

Hello,
I am having problems with my highlighter tool in Word 2003. Sometime when I
want to highlight multiple sections of my document using the Ctrl key and the
highlighter tool, the highlighting jumps to a totally different section of
the document. Sometime the whole application crashes. The real headache is
that this problem is intermittant.

I have updated my Office 2003 to SP1 and installed all the updates.

If anyone has any ideas please provide them as this is driving me nuts.

Regards,

Have not experienced the problem, but as a potential workaround & for
further info, what happens if you select the text _first_ & then apply the
highlight color?

Thanks for the suggestion...

This is exactly what I am doing though. I select text in two or three
different sections of my document using Ctrl and when I hit the Highlighter
button the highlighting jumps to a different location.

Weird eh??

Sorry for the misunderstanding... How does the Highlighter behave if you
just go through the doc & apply in various locations? Are you experiencing
any other unusual behavior, especially where graphic effects are involved?

No problems there. It works just fine. But if you try to apply in various
locations with one shot this is when the mess happens.

Cheers

Simply don't know what to say. I just went thru a 5 page doc ctrl-selecting a
dozen or so passages ranging from several characters to complete paras and
was unable to trigger the same behavior. Repeated several times without a
hitch. Even used Find to re-select the highlighted text & changed the color
with no problem.

Does there appear to be any correlation between the problem & available
system resources... doc size, multiple open docs, several apps running? If
so, it could be a RAM shortage or a hardware accelleration issue.

Sorry I can't offer more, but I have not even seen a reference to similar
behavior.

Thanks CyberTaz.

I think it is probably best to remove Office 2k3 completely and clean up any
tracks of it. Then do a fresh installation, hopefully this behaviour will
stop.

Thanks again for you help.
