High resolution screen = almost pixelated images

Ben

Hi

We have a very high resolution laptop screens (17" 1920 x 1200).

When we view webpages in Netscape images look normal, but in IE6 they look
poor quality / pixelated.

I have tried switching off image resizing, but cannot see any other relevent
options.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
B

Hi Ben :)

As you don't mention which version of Windows you are using, I'll take a
guess at some suggestions:

First - If you have an accelerator supplied by your ISP try turning it off.
It works by reducing image size (and therefor quality) for downloads.

Try clearing the IE cache. IE>Tools>Options>General>Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

Try adjusting the Hardware acceleration:
Go to Control Panel>Display>Settings>advanced tab>Troubleshoot
Move the slider to the left or right to increase or reduce the acceleration.
Test various settings to see that helps.

also....

Zone Alarm Pro can block Images in IE

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low
2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low
3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.

If still no joy………..

I know this is basic, but did you delete all of your temp internet files and
cookies after changing the setting?

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook with 17" wide screen and use 1440 X 900 res. and
I also had a similar problem. I got this response to my post by RWS:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
What kind of Internet connection are you using?
If it is a Dial-Up connection with some supposed "Web Accelerator"
component, then there is your answer. You are not actually connecting
at a higher speed, but rather they strip down graphics to make it appear
like you are browsing more quickly. End result is blurry pictures such
as you are now experiencing. Is such the case?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, it was the case! The web accelerator called Venturi 2, that comes
with Verizon Wireless Broadband service, was my particular problem. Once
disabled, all graphics in IE are now crystal clear.

Hope this helps
