High CPU usage

Ever since installing SP2, I have encounted a problem as the temperature
rises on my Compaq laptop, fans cycle on and off the fans gradually run at
a higher volume and eventually appear to lock at their highest speed and do
not slow down. I'm forced to shut down and during the shut down or hibernate
process the fan speed does come down before the shut down is completed. Need
Help. Thanks.

To my knowledge there is no reason SP2 will cause any of the problems you
are experiencing.
I would suggest opening the case and using a can of canned air to blow the
dust off the components on the inside.
If this computer is in a smoking environment then it might require a can of
electrical cleaner
