High Capacity SD card

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with an sd card slot. I was told that it does
not support the SDHC cards that come above 4 gig in capacity. I do not know
if it is a hardware incompatibility or a software incompatibility. The
machine was running XP PRO and I have recently upgraded to Win7 RC. I have a
8 gig SDHC card and the Inspiron 6000 still can not read the card. I found
the web site
http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows XP/sp3/Fix195493/2600/free/297201_ENU_i386_zip.exe)
which seems to indicate that for XP Pro this will make the machine see the
card if it were running XP Pro. Does anyone have any experience with it?
Also, I tried following the instruction to download the fix but IE tells me
that the address isn't any good.

Would appreciate your comments.

As for as I know it's a hardware thing. 4Gig and above are SDHC, so you
would need a new card reader.

Thanks for the response. I suspected that was the case since the card can
not be read by Win7 RC but when I saw the hotfix it seemed to indicate maybe
it was softwware.
