hide system tray icon doesn't work

If you select "Hide the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon in the system tray" under
general settings, the icon will reappear following an automatic scan and will
not rehide.

You are correct--this is a bug. However, beta2, Windows Defender is now
available, and it hides the icon by default--unless user input is needed.

(download and run--it will remove the version in place)

There are significant differences between the apps--but nows the time to
take a look at the new version.

1) no icon or desktop shortcut by default.
2) updates via AutoUpdate or Windows Update
3) scheduled scans are done via the Windows Scheduled tasks facility.
4) the advanced tools are much changed--a number are gone., the remaining
ones improved.

I've seen that bug as well--i.e. the icon not showing when you wanted it to
show. I don't have suggestions for repair, except an update install--start,
control panel, add or remove programs Microsoft Antispyware, change, update.

No further development work on beta1 is going to happen--so you'll need to
live with it the way it is, I'm afraid.
