Hide spelling and grammar errors

I just got Word 2003. In a previous version of Word, I always recorded a
short macro to Hide Spelling and Grammar Errors for the current document. I
did that with Word 2003, and, while it selected the two check boxes in the
Options menu, it did not hide the spelling and grammar errors.

What am I doing wrong?
