Hidden partition

My computer supplier do not supply windows XP on disk but
on a hidden partition. how do i find where my windows
setup files and how do i reinstall windows from pre-
installed software???

Contact your computer supplier as to the procedures for reinstalling XP.

'press F10 to start system recovery'

I have an HP computer which uses this method, under my
programs listing I have an entry HP tools, recovery and
reformat is their.

they want you to pay £60 for a recovery CD or pay £1 a
min for their helpdesk.

Then I guess you'll have to pay for the CD or helpdesk options.

The early models of compaq also used this. The program link
will attempt to load from a recovery CD. This is labeled
either recover me or restore CD. You will need to have their
OEM license or reg key to complete the process. Good luck. I
suggest buying a full install CD and a Disk utility from HD
manufacturer (either seagate, ibm or western digital) you
will need a good program to tell you the drive model number.
Commonly called a giagnostic. I use "Belarc advisor". then
you can obtain a copy of their disk installer, and expand it
to floppy. then add the fdisk and format as needed. You may
also eant to invest in PowerQuest PartitionMagic as it takes
the guesswork out of the procedure. With PM you need to do
this on a healthy drive and make a backup copy of the XPdos
install (called a backup copy) you can run from CD or floppy
in a pinch.
