Hibernation Mode, Now Won't Turn Back On

Ok, my gf lebt me her Acer Laptop Computer that is
installed with Windows XP Home Edition. The battery got
low and the laptop went into "Hibernation Mode" So i
charged it for over 24 hrs.....and now the computer won't
turn on. Like it's running you can hear it....like it's
charging....but everytime I press the power button to turn
it on....nothing happens.....If anyone can tell me what to
do or any suggestions....would be greatly appreciated
