HeyBub

Two computers networked to a third (all running XP). After about an hour of
inactivity on either of the two a keypress on the active program yields an
application error message about the inability to access the third computer's
database. Closing the application, clicking on MyComputer, then the mapped
drive icon, re-establishes the connection such that the application can now
access the data on the third computer.

PowerOptions for the two affected computers are all set to "Never" (turn off
monitor/hard disks, System standby), likewise for the "master" machine
containing the file the two satellite machines are trying to access.

What else could be going to sleep after a period of inactivity?

However, this shouldn't be the reason but you can try this one. Restart your
computer and goto BIOS setup by pressing DEL (or required by your BIOS). Here
check the settings of Power Management and set them to Never (Monitor/Hard
Disk and Standby)

Let us know, if this information was useful to you.

Is your video card a Nvidia ? Got the same problem and went back to previous
drivers now all is ok.
