Hibernate/Standby Issue

Whenever Norton Anti-Virus 2003 auto-protect is enabled
(active in system tray), my Win 2K SP4 system will not
enter standby or hibernate as selected in power
management, however itwill do so if selected as a shutdown
option from the Start button. In other words, hibernate
works, but I cannot walk away from my system and have it
hibernate in 15 minutes or other pre-selected time.

Symantec has no references to this problem.

Does anyone have any clues about Services or other Win 2K
settings that can fix this?

I have a similar problem which I found after installing
one of the latest security updates. However, I am using
Computer Associates EZ AntiVirus versus Norton. I can only
set my machine to hibernate automatically if I use 5
minutes or less in the control panel. This has occurred
only on my desktop. I have a laptop configured basically
the same, but it works ok. However, the laptop uses APM
versus ACPI like the desktop. The desktop has an Award
bios which may be a common factor. I'll try to disable the
CA tray icon to see if that affects it. More later
(hopefully).
