Jim

I have three Windows XP Pro machines on a LAN.

Is there a way place one of my remote computers in the hibernate mode with
using either the command line or a separate utility. I don't want to use the
normal "timed" option, I want to go into hibernate on demand.

TIA

I don't know if you can do it remotely, but you can click "start" and "turn
of the machine" on the machine you want to hibernate. Once the options box
comes up press shift and the standby option changes to hibernate.

Hi Peter,

That was a great suggestion but unfortunately when you use Remote Desktop on
the remote computer, the Start icon shows "Disconnect" instead of "Turn of
Computer"

You might try creating a cmd file on the desktop containing:

%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState
