HelpAssistant and Search disabled

HelpAssistant and Search have been disabled on my laptop. I believe I may
have done it when following instructions on how to speed up my computer
several months ago. Now, I need to be able to use those functions and can't.
I've reinstalled the software but still can't use these things. I believe I
may have disabled them in the registry but I'm not sure. Any idea how I can
go about figuring out what I did, and reversing it?

I'm glad you mentioned this site! I believe I have been there before...maybe
to turn off the Search Assistant in the first place? I've done what you
suggested to no avail. I've been searching the site for a couple of hours and
tried several things but it's still not working. I still need more tips!

When I run Belarc Advisor on my machine, it says that HelpAssistant and
SUPPORT_388945a0 (under Local System Accounts) are both disabled. Does that
help?
