Hey All,
Im am currently quite fustrated with a file on my
computer. Im trying to delete it and a message keps
appearing telling me "the file is being used by another
person of program, close any other program that might be
using this file and try agian." I downloaded it with a
file sharing program and have since copied the file to
another folder and removed the filesharing program
(aries). Thinking that I needed aries to delete the
program i have reinstalled it, to no avial. It won't let
me move it back because of the same error "the file is
being used by another person of program, close any other
program that might be using this file and try agian." so
I have gone to on line support and tried many things..
1)deleting in safe mode
2)freeing system resources through msconfig
3)spybot and adaware programs-both which i used to remove
extra stuff
4)system restore
I just can't think of anything elese and am quite
fustrated to the point of exploding my comp :(
if anyone could help me it would be greatly appricated
Thanks Paul

This problem seems to only affect avi's for some reason. Move all other files that are in the folder with the avi to a temp folder, except the avi. TheN click the start button, then click run, then type in the window “cmdâ€, without the “â€â€â€ quotation marks. U are looking at the base operating program, dos. It should say something like “c:\documents and settings\your nameâ€. type “cd..†( make sure you put the 2 dots), then enter. Keep doing that until u see “c:\>†now type “ cd folder nameâ€. for instance, if the folder name that the undeletable avi is in is called “moviesâ€, u should type “cd movies†now type “del *.*†the *** button is the 8 on your keyboard. It will now say “are you sure, y/n†hit y then enter. Your file is gone. Close the black window and move all the files u moved out of the folder back into it and ur done.

I hope this thread is not dead yet and is still perused.
For undeletable files, try this freeware, MoveOnBoot:
