When I go into ctrl alt del and see how many programs are running in the
background the number is outrageous. I know how to temporarily stop them each
time I turn the computer on but is there a way to keep them from even
starting when I turn the computer on???? And does anyone know what the
Symantec ccApp thing is that is always running on my computer, I'm afraid to
delete it. Thanks so much for the help.

First of all Symantec is your Virus Scan program DON'T DELETE it. Second
thing... download Ad-aware SE for free at www.download.com. It will remove
only bad stuff from your computer thats running in the background. If you
need more info on spyware go to www.Lavasoft.de home of Ad-aware SE and
Ad-aware 6.0. This is a must before deleteing or changing your computer
files. Let the Ad-aware get rid of the spyware thats taking over your
computer, it works, and safe and the number 1 free program. Spybot is too,
but, I downloaded it and had problems getting it to work so I uninstalled it.
Get the one that works or even both.... you can never have enough removal
programs...they all find something new or different.

What's outrageous. I have forty running. It's not how many are
running, but do you need/want them running. Some are essential. CCapp
is part of norton antivirus. It's needed for it to run. See these
links to find out what each item might be and then decide if you need it
running. To stop something from running first go to the program's
preferences and see if there is an option to change it. If not go to
start | run. Type in msconfig, hit ok. On the start up tab you can
uncheck a line to have it not load. There are other ways too if it's
not showing in there.
