I keep getting a message that reads Windows cannot start
because the following file is missing or corrupt
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\c_437.nls

I don't want to have to restore the system because I'm
afraid I'll lose all my files. What should I do?

Start/run (type with out quotes) "sfc /scannow"

You will need your XP CD.

Hi Stephanie,

If you can't boot Windows, instead boot the WinXP CD and enter the Recovery
Console. From the command prompt, run this:

Expand*X:\I386\c_437.nl_*%windir%\system32\c_437.nls*/y

Where X is whatever letter is assigned your CD drive, change it accordingly.
Each asterisk (*) represents a needed space, do not include them. When it
finishes, exit the Recovery Console, remove the CD, and restart the system.
