Help!!!!

My appearances and themes won't work. I have a brand-new
computer (three weeks old) and suddenly the appearances
and themes stopped working. I can click on "appearances
and themes" on the menu, but none of the categories in
it, such as "display" or "change screensaver" will work.
I've had many computer-savvy people try to fix it, and
I've even emailed emachines (the maker of my computer)
but they have been no help. Can anyone help me? If so,

Look in the event viewer for clues.
eventvwr.msc from the RUN box.
check out the logged app, security and system messages.

Is the Themes service running?
Open up services (services.msc from the RUN box)
and scroll down to themes.
What's the status?
