Help with XP Professional

Okay...... When i boot my computer and type in the
password i see my desktop for like 30 seconds and then i
get the blue screen of death :(. The screen says


A problem has been detected and Windows has been shutdown
to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you have seen this Stop error
screen,

restart your computer. If this appears again, follow these
steps.

Disable or uninstall any Anti-virus, Disk Defragmentation
or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration
and check for any updated drivers, Run CHKDSK /f to check
for harddrive corruption then restart your computer.

Can anyone help???? And I cant reinstall since its an
upgrade. And i want to do a clean install
