I will appreciate your help with this problem:

I have a Dell Lattitude D600 laptop, running Win XP Professional, SP2.

For quite some time now I have not been able to successfully shut down
the machine.

The shutdown process typically starts and progresses normally, then as
soon as it comes to, "windows is shutting down",
it gives a blue screen; then after dumping memory, it gives the
following STOP error.

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xF1AA9B5C, 0x00000000)

ghpcw2k.sys - Address F1AA9B5C base at F1AA9B5C, datestamp 0x00000000

Then I have to manually shut down the thing.

I just cannot recall installing or downloading anything that might
have caused the problem,

Thanks in advance for your help.
