Help with Vista and HP PhotoSmart P1000 Printer

Rick

I have recently installed Vista, and have a HP Photosmart P1000 pritner that
I have used on XP to print high quality digital prints from my digital
camera. Does anyone know of a way around the compatiblity issue with this
printer and Vista, I have tried to go to HP web site to find a new driver
unsucessfully. I do not want to disgard this printer and buy a new one just
because of this problem, but would rather find a patch or a new driver
somehow that will allow Vista to recognize this printer and use it. Thank
you very much.

You could try a search in this newsgroup to see what others have done.

Sometimes installing the HP XP Software under compatibility mode set
for XP with SP2 will work.

You should be able to install and use the Deskjet 970 driver built into
Vista for the Photosmart P1000. This will not support reading the photo
cards back to the computer but should work fine for printing.
