Help with video for windows messenger

H

Harlan

I have connected a video camera to my PC and can see video and have audio
through the tune-up wizard. But, I cannot establish a video conference
session with someone else. Can someone please help me with the following
questions?

- I disabled all firewall references for both the XP firewall (which I have
off anyway) as well as the firewall on the router. Can I use router
firewall? I don't want to have this turned off
- I am using Windows Messanger 4.7. The person I am trying to connect to
is using MSN Messenger 6.1. Is there a compatibility issue?
- If so, what is the difference between the two and should I install the
MSN Messenger? I'd rather not add what appears to be redundant software

Thanks.

Something I mentioned in another thread, and not a direct answer to your
question, but I would consider another chat client. I was unable to get
Messenger to work with all my friends who are behind a variety of routers
and firewalls.

One chat client I have found that works without issue is Eyeball Chat, but
I'm sure there are others out there.
