A friend has picked up a Trojan and her computer won't boot into windows.
She hasn't got an AVG boot disc. Is the only hope of recovery to reformat
her hard disc and start life afresh, so to speak?

I'm trying to help via a long distance phone call so I'm not able to study
the problem in any detail. (Not that I could help much even then!)

Thanks

How did you find out? What notice your "Friend" got to even assume a virus
or trojan is present.
Since your "Friend" can no longer reboot this seems impossible.
Be more specific please.

Does it give any error messages?

Why do you think it is a trojan?

Start trouble shooting with downloading startup list from here. Post the log
here or some forum.
