help with publishing

I am using FP2003 with WinXP

Lately when I try to publish to the remote site of any of my web sites, it
has failed.

First, I click publish

enter my username and password

and then it hesitates and then the Remote Web Site Properties Window opens
........which is not normal.

I click OK and wait a moment and then I get a message window that says...

MESSAGE 1: "A web site does not exist at http://whatever.com . Would you
like FrontPage to create a web site at that location?"

If I choose "yes" instead of "no", it tries and then says...

MESSAGE 2: "There is no web named "/"."

with the only option of "OK"

I have several other webs and they all fail.

Other times - it works. Just recently I did a system shutdown and it worked
upon starting back up.

I have contacted the web master at the college and they are looking into it,
but they are pretty uncertain what is going on.

As anyone heard of this before or have any suggestions?

See if you have better luck using http://www.domainname.com instead of http://domainname.com

Ok, so which site type is giving you problems, www.domain or subdomain.domain

If it is subdomain, the best option is to have the folder that is holding the content be FP subweb,
and then you would open as:

http://www.midlandstech.edu/classes/

There are no FP SE at either of those "sites"

The root webs at
http://www.midlandstech.edu/_vti_inf.html
and
http://classes.midlandstech.edu/_vti_inf.html
Do have the FP SE)
Are they just folders in a site?

Contact your host to convert them to webs
