Help with .pst files and personal folders, contacts

I recently had to move all my email and contacts from one hard drive to
another.
(I'm using Windows XP Home Edition with Outlook 2002).
After much reading and searching, the following links proved extremely
valuable.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196492 ((How to manage personal folders
files in Outlook.)

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA012308921033.aspx (Move an
Outlook data file from one computer to another)

And finally, for the uninitiated out there. The best insight I can offer is
to manage your personal folders by opening the 'Folder list' from the View
Menu in Outlook. This will list your "active" files as 'Outlook Today
Personal Folder'. If you expand these folders you will find, for example
your current contacts list, (or lack thereof), and by right clicking and
examining its properties you may find the source of a difficulty. If you
find duplicate entries in a folder list, you can distinguish one from another
by renaming them. (Right click properties, advanced) You'll see where these
folders are stored on the hard drive, and you will likely be able to sort out
what's happening in Outlook and remove any old folders and files no longer
needed that are causing the system to bog down in certain places.
Just a suggestion...work with these critical files carefully, and make
backups before you begin!
