Outlook 2010 RTM, Personal Folders Out of Alphabetical Order

I am using Office ProPlus 2010 RTM on Win7 Enterprise.

In Outlook 2010 ... in the folder listing under Personal Folders: when I
first load Outlook, all the folders are in proper alphabetical order.

After moving emails from one of my IMAP inboxes to one of the Personal
Folders (via a move to operation or via rules), those folders that have items
moved into them become displaced ... and instead of showing up in
alphabetical order, end up being listed in a random location in the list
(although, the "offending" folders tend to get clustered near one another).

Closing down Outlook and reloading clears the issue, but it returns with
every move to/rules operation.

Thoughts? Thanks,

Howie

Have you tried starting Outlook with the /cleanviews switch?

Milly,

I haven't. Thanks for the suggestion. Before I give that a shot however,
from what I can see, the switch is for restoring default views. I don't
believe that is the issue ... the issue is that Outlook loses the
alphabetical order of the folders in the primary PST file after moving files
from an IMAP folder to a folder in "outlook.pst."

Any theories as to why that would be happening and how the clearviews switch
might solve the problem?

Thanks,

Howie

The theory behind running /cleanviews is that if you have corruption in a
view that is causing odd behavior, /cleanviews should clear it up.

Unless you have a bunch of custom views there's really no harm in running
/cleanviews. Easy to try and if it fixes the problem (as it often does)
then it's a win-win.

Ok -- gave the cleanviews switch a shot. I have personal folder called
"Action Items." I moved an email from an IMAP folder to the Action Items
folder, and at that instant, the folder moved in the list from toward the top
to beneath "search folders," where the following is found now (after some
additional moving/rules):

Security
Sent Item
Action Items
Belief Net
Bills
Hebrew Academy
OpenDNS
Shaule
Sh'ma
Simon Wiesenthal Center
Skype ...

So you can see, the folders to which items are moved get "moved" themselves
in the alphabetical listing. Any other ideas? Thanks! Be well,

Howie

Howie,
It's been a little while since you asked about this problem. Did you ever find a resolution? I have this very problem and it drives me crazy, trying to find the folder. When I move an e-mail to another folder, that folder shoots below the search folder.

Anyway, thanks for your time.
