Help with opening pst file back up

Hi

I am using outllook 2000 on my laptop. I backed up the pst file on burned
the file on a cd. I wanted to check if the back up file is working. I tired
opening the file in outlook 2002 on my desktop. It prompted for a password
for the backed up pst file. I didn't set up any password on outlook 2000.

Please help me to open my outlook 2000 pst file.

Thanks

Ram

First, you are unable to open the pst from the cd. You must copy the file
from disc and place it somewhere on your hard drive. Once this is done,
right click on it and go to properties. Make sure read-only is not checked.
Then you can try to open it within outlook. Do not double click it.

Well unfortunately if at this point it is still prompting for a password,
then it is password protected. I am going to assume the original pst has a
password on it. You can try it again.

If not you could drag and drop the items in outlook to a new pst.
Best of luck

Jon,

Thanks. I didn't protect the pst file with a password. I will create a new
file. Please let me know how I can creat a new pst file and how I can drag
and drop all my mails.

I am sorry to ask basic questions.

Regards
