well, if you can get a one
minute hibernation, then it
is reasonable to assume your
motherboard supports special
power features.
something to keep in mind is
that hibernation is activated
when the cpu is idle.
in other words, if the cpu
is actively running a process
and is not idle-ing, then the
criteria to initiate hibernation
will not occur.
if hibernation is occurring
at the one minute setting,
then this suggests that the
cpu was successfully idle-ing
for a period of one minute,
causing it to initiate hibernation.
perhaps you need to monitor
your processes and see what
is running and keeping the
cpu busy.
some processes like screensavers
can interfere with hibernation
because they are designed to
keep the cpu busy. so you
might disable screensavers
and see it this is a cause.
however, screensavers are not
the only programs that can
keep the cpu busy.
also, if you have more than
1 gig of ram, then you need
a patch from microsoft to correct
a flaw with the hibernation feature.
another possibility is that the
standby mode settings are conflicting
with hibernation. so you should
only have hibernation set inside
the power control panel and have
"turn off disks" set to "never".
also, if your virtual memory
settings for the initial size
is too high, then this will also
inhibit hibernation. try
setting the initial size at 2.
the above are just a few
suggestions and thoughts.
however, there is more info here:
