hey anyone got any ideas i am trying to format my drive
with my xp pro cd and it wont detect my hard drive and
cancels out of the setup but my computer boots otherwise
any ideas i have xp home now and want to wipe before i
load pro tks

Your comp may need some sort of hard drive overlay program or driver.
When XP was originally installed the person installing it needed to hit
F3 at the first opportunity to include a driver loaded from a floppy
diskette to enable XP's installer to read/find the hard drive. This same
driver is incorporated into the install to allow XP to boot. If this is
indeed the case, detailed hardware information supplied by you or a
knowledgeable friend will be needed for someone to help.
