Win2k/SP4 with latest updates..

When I log in as user1, with admin rights, I get the
following error. Administrator user does NOT get it.
Does Win2k have a file that logs what apps are
started during user log in, along with any error msg
they cause?

Application error logging is left up to the application itself, writing to
the application log of event viewer and possibly to *.LOG files within the
%programfiles% folder.

Start|Run|eventvwr.msc

Thanks. I looked at the event logs some more, and noticed that
the only "user1" specific apps. that started are 4 MsiInstaller apps.
The rest had "NA" under user.

misexec.exe has, which MsiInstaller uses as you'd know, has
"all access" security settings for Admins, which includes "user1"
in my case. Though I can not definitely correlate the error with
user1 starting the MsiInstaller, I see it as the only dirscrepancy
when I log as Administrator vs. user1. When the process is
started (automatically) by Administrator, I do NOT get the
error, but when user1 starts it, I get the error.

You didn't mention the application but I'd get in touch with the developer.

:) that was msiexec.exe (I "mis"-spelled it), Windows Installer.

I am not currently installing anything. Win2k update(s)
were the last apps. I remember installing.
