Word Help with Design Mode in Word

Hello, I am trying to edit a form that I created in Word and I am unable to turn design mode on. The document is not protected. When I am in the developer tab all the buttons in the Controls section are disabled and grayed out so I can't click on them. Any help? I've attached an image so you can see what I mean.

When you installed the software did you go through the custom install settings? If not maybe a re-install and a quick scan through custom settings might solve the problem. Some software has default choices that allow only parts of programs to be installed.
I'm currently using openoffice since its free though so this may be of no help. EST waste of your life=2 min.
