Help with Custom Animation

M

Marlene Lussier

Good morning everyone.

I am a beginner at Powerpoint and my boss has me preparing
a presentation for him which needs to be completed by the
end of today (Sunday). I am applying special animation to
various text boxes. When I click to proceed to the next
text box (in the same slide) he wants the text in the
previous text box to change font color immediately, but to
remain on the slide. How do I do that? I only know how
to do this by having the font color change "very fast".

HELP! (and thanks!)

Marlene,
What you want is the option to change on next mouse click. If you are using
PPT 2000 or earlier, you do it via the "After Animation" drop down on the
effects tab. (To get there, go to the slide with the text and do a Slide
Show --> Custom Animation.) If you are using PPT 2002 or later, you do it
by adding am emphasis animation to the text that changes the colors. (This
you can do via the Custom Animation task pane.) If you want to read up on
putting multiple animations on the same item, see this article from my
website:
One Object - Two Animations
http://www.powerpointanswers.com/article1051.html

If you want all the text to change color when the next piece comes in, then
I would recommend putting the animations on the slide master.
Hope this helps!

Hi Marlene,

which version of PowerPoint are you using? Assuming you use one of the newer
versions (2002/XP or 2003): Click the little arrow to the right of the
animation in the task pane. Choose "Effect Options", choose the font color
in the "after animation" box.

Kind regards,
Ute
