Help with Activation

I have installed Vista Home Premium RC1. I am attached to the Internet using
cable. IE7 and Mail work fine however when I try to Activate Windows I get
the error message "A connection to the server could not be established". Can
someone offer a suggestion as what to do or where to look. It also appears I
cannot access the NNTP server either.
 
You may need to allow it through the firewall if you are using a third party
firewall.
