Double instances of IE7

Running Vista RC1 (5600) 64 bit on this computer has recently started
showing two instances of IE7 on a single activation from the taskbar.

The first window opens fine at Windows live home page

The second IE7 window shows a message about page aborted

Is it local (limited to this machine?) or a wider issue?

No problem here. Have you checked to see if both are IE32 or both IE64 or
one of each.
Have you created a new shortcut to one or the other.

From Start button:

1 - type inter

2 - three important items appear
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer (64-bit)
Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

3 - starting the first two on this list returns two IE7 windows one of
which declares operation aborted

The (No Add-ons) variant returns a single window without error message

4 - starting iexplore either from Program Files or Programs Files (x86)
returns two windows of IE7 one of which contains the aborted mesage

I hope this helps in some shape, manner or form
