Hello,

I believe my trouble started when I switched to a new video
driver.

I cannot log on to my computer whatsoever now. I keep
getting a message at login:

a problem is preventing windows from accurately checking
your computers license.

It asks if i want to activate windows. I say yes, but it
saves my settings and kicks me back to login.

I recently performed an upgrade on my computer-new hard
drive, motherboard, memory, etc. I deleted windows off my
old drive, installed fresh on my new drive, and havent had
any trouble until now. I tried to repair windows from the
xp cd, and it actually reinstalled to my old hard drive !

Please help with any advice. All I want to do is override
the activation issue on my new hard drive, log in, and
reregister my new config. I hope this can be done without
reinstallation.

Thanks for your help,
Joe

Possible Resolution:

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.
