A few days ago my computer suddenly started to reboot itself time after time. I got suspisious that it was infected with the Blaster virus. Now it is not possible to start the computer anymore. It gets to the Welcome screen but no user accounts are displayed for logon and no start meny. I have tried start in safe mode etc as well as ctrl-alt-del at logon but nothing works
I have Windows XP Home

Is there some way to restore the computer without loosing all information
Please help!!

Hi

Did you see any error messages with the reboots? If you can't get into Safe Mode - have you tried Last Known Good Configuration? If that doesn't work, you would be looking towards a 'Repair' install, which will mean downloading and reinstalling all the Windows Updates:

The following article by MVP Michael Stevens will help you:

The problem is that I don't have Windows XP CD since it came preinstalled with the computer. Can I use any Windows XP CD (e.g. buy one in the store) to perform the Repair Installation or is there any possibility to do it without the CD?

Go to the people who sold you your computer. It may cost you, but they'll be able to fix things. And see if you can get the xp cd from them, so you'll have it if there's a next time.
