okay im getting desperate here. I was trying to do a repair/upgrade
installation on my xp then it froze at 39minutes remaining and so i restarted
the computer and everytime i start it up it brings me a blue screen that says
"windows xp:setup is being restarted........." then it brings me to a black
screen with my cursor then restarts again and goes back to the same blue
screen with the same message and repeats it over and over infinite times in a
loop. it seems as though i cannot get to the next step. ive tried the repair
but it wont accept my admin pass. i DO NOT want to lose my files so im not
willing to do anything that will cause loss of data. How can i bypass the
loop and regain access to my files?? please help anything will be
appreciated!

Computer Basics 101 - Page 1 - Sentence 1:

Thou shalt create back-up copies of important data
as an ongoing practice at timely intervals on external
media such as another internal / external hard drive
and or CDRW/CDR disks and or tape, etc.

Why exactly were you trying to run a Repair Install?
Just the fact that you felt it necessary to try that
implies that some serious issue was happening.
That should have been a big red flag to you to
get your data backed up before trying ANYTHING.
Repair Installs of XP have become problematic -
especially if you have Service Pack 2 installed
and try running a Repair Install from an XP CD
that does not contain SP2.

The fact that you cannot get past the Administrator
password to get into Recovery Console is not good
to say the least.

At this point, all "trouble shooting" should cease!
Data Recovery is your primary concern at this point.
You could take the system to a Data Recovery
specialist (expensive) or remove the hard drive
and slave it to another functioning XP computer
and see if you can access the drive to recover
data.
