HELP, windows explorer is closing Word program

I have a new problem. I recently added a bunch of word documents to my
computer that where word docs[possiblly word 02 & 03], that where saved to a
SD card on a PDA [so now pocket word documents], that I needed to convert to
Word 03 so I could edit and save to my computer.
Problem is now when I open any docs from the windows explorer and begin
working MS will spontanously "detected an error and needs to close" the word
program, thus I lose my editing. Word trys to make a recovery, but that gives
me a different visual c++ error.
But the same document, opened when you use Word program to open the document
functions correctly.
I think something has happened to the Windows Explorer that does not allow
me to edit files, while working in a word program. Word program alone
otherwise seems to act normal and looks like it is functioning fine.
It is very annoying and makes trying to get editing done very slow if you
cannot edit a doc from explorer.
HELP!!!

Try this: "How to Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in
Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084).
Also, reinstaling Word may help you out.
