help-Virus My computer won't start

I think I have a virus or worm on my laptop. When turn it on I will have a
prompt to choose
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last known good configuration (your most resent setting that worked)
Start windows

Either of these options wouldn't help me start windows (I have Windows XP)
when I select any of these options will show me the windows XP flash screen
and will go back to the above options,

Please help

Get to a clean computer and make yourself a boot cd with a virus checker
that can check your system. One I have used is AVG free....After burning
your CD on a healthy system then take that CD and install and boot your
troubled system and scan it.

There's a strong possibility you have a hardware problem, run
diagnostics on your
HDD - diagnostics from the manufacturer
RAM - memtest86 www.memtest86.com

Then run 2 free anti-virus programs and 2 free anti-spyware programs in
safe mode.
