When I try to download a word doc attachment in hotmail I recieve an error
message "Internet explorer cannot download...(name of the file)... Internet
explore was not able to open this internet site. The request site is either
unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."
When I change my security settings for the internet and I disable META
REFRESH I can open the word document from hotmail, but I encounter another
problem when I enter the URL and the page is done loading it is totally
blank??? I am using Windows XP operating system SP2, IE 6.0. PLEASE HELP
with a permanant fix instead or this terrible work around I have found.

Yes, I have installed office 2000 professional... back in nov 2004 I could
open word attachments without a problem. Like I described below I can
disable the meta refresh option on the security tab and it works fine but
then that's when I run into the problem or the pages not loading in IE. I
have had office install since I purchased my PC in jan 2004.

Jennifer, do you have Word installed? It doesn't come with XP normally.

Then I'm sorry I don't know the answer. I don't have Office 2000, just MS
Works. Hopefully someone will come along with an answer.

Just a thought. Are you up to date with the service packs for Office 2000?
