HELP to retrieve a lost partion

C

Chuck

80 Gig drive partitioned with operating system on C
(20gig) and data on D (60gig)
Had to reinstall XP and it asked me to format the C
drive. During installation I had to delete the C
partition in order to continue. After successful
installation of OS on C I don't see my D partion anymore.

Is there any way of getting this partition back.

Try going into Disk Management and rescanning (Control Panel->Performance
and Maintenance>Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Storage->Disk
Management.

Hi

Have you deleted partition twice during the setup
If yes, you have also deleted the D drive
If no, how big is the C drive now
Try right click My Computer/Manage/Disk managemen
Double click disk management, in the upper right pane, you should see C drive and the volume size
In the lower pane, you should see Disk 0
Next to Disk 0 is the C drive volume
Next to C drive should be the old D drive, right click and assign a drive letter (Note: DO NOT FORMAT or you would lose all the data files
If the CD-rom is now D drive, you can change it to E drive and then assign D to the 2nd partition

Hope it helps

Pete
