HELP - 'Search Companion', 'Help and Support', and 'Windows media player' NOT WORKING

HI.
as subject line says;
when i goto run search companion a window comes up but with no search
toolbar
with help and support, when i goto that, nothing happens
and when i try to run media player it says - Internal Application Error

In running XP Pro with lastest service packs/windows updates

oh yeah, and to add to that, Norton Antivirus 2002 - when i go into it where
it would normall say: system status and stuff it just says refreshing
constantly - i no this aint a microsoft problem but maybe you can help

also tell me the error message (fully) u have encountered with Media player.
