Help!! Safe Mode has slowed down PC

Hi,

A few weeks ago my sister noticed that my PC was extra slow. After the
login, the applications took forever to load and it would take about
5-10 minutes just to open Internet Explorer. This has never happened
before and after speaking to my boyfriend, he suggested that I restart
my PC in Safe Mode b/c I probably had a virus on my PC that caused the
slow performance.

I took his advice and restarted my PC in Safe Mode. However, the Safe
Mode never worked and I never got a chance to log back into my PC. Now
whenever I turn on my PC, it would be stuck and nothing happens. I
usually get frustrated and just turn it off.

Please help. Any ideas on how I can bypass the Safe Mode to put my PC
back to normal or should I take it somewhere to get it fixed?

Desperate to use home PC again!

Thanks for any help & advice.

Since you mention taking it somewhere to get it fixed, it sounds like a good
idea.
You just need to be a good consumer and do some price checking before
allowing someone to work on it. Also, that it is a reputable business.

This is just to vindicate your boyfriend, who is probably not getting
any since the event you describe. There was nothing inappropriate about
his suggestion that you start in Safe Mode, and it certainly should not
cause any problems that were worse than those you already had. Also,
there is no such thing as being stuck in Safe Mode. Once you reboot,
the fact that you previously attempted Safe Mode doesn't mean that the
current boot will be in Safe Mode.

Anyway, you say that now "nothing happens". If your "nothing" really
means NOTHING, then if you have a Windows CD, you can try a Repair
Install (Google for "repair install"). Also, if you have a Windows CD,
you can try to boot from the CD just to see if your computer is
working. If you instead of a Windows CD you have the computer
manufacturer's RESTORE CD, you may consider using that to get your
system to factory state. Note, however, that this could mean the loss
of any data you have on your computer.

From reading your first sentence, I don't know why this person would listen
to what yuo have to say at all!!!

Also, from her own personal statement of "should I take it somewhere to get
it fixed", I would say that she is not comfortable with fixing the computer
herself.

Humour, my good man, humour. Of, course, I suppose you could be a
fundamentalist, or something equivalent, offended by anything that you
would choose to label "immoral". I happen to live in an environment
where the sight of breast skin on TV is NOT taken as reason to
immediately call the TV station or my Congressman to compalin.
Also, from her own personal statement of "should I take it somewhere to get
it fixed", I would say that she is not comfortable with fixing the computer
herself.

Now, if we are going to comment on others' advice, then I suggest you
consider your own lame and totally useless comments. To paraphrase: be
careful of price and make sure you get a reputable technician. Wow,
what revelation! What deep analysis of the problem! How did we ever
fail to think of these things before?

Moron.

no matter what your personal views are, there is no need to make such remarks
in your response. maybe not everyone appreciates your humor.
