This AM I got the blue screen on start up (before Windows). My PC is a Dell
Dimension 850T with 768 MB RAM and 2chard disks, running XP Pro. I could not
start in any
mode. the error code from the blue screen is:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C44528,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

Note that I am using my satellite PC on a 2 PC local network to communicate
this message.

I have never experienced this before, but I have noticed that lately this
problem seems all too common. I frankly do not know if this is a hardware
or virus problem.

My boot drive is F rather than C I did run chkdsk /p on Drive C and it
seems to be OK.
Later _
I have determined that I can access all of my partitions (C through M) over
both
drives via the command prompt. However, all of the original letter
assignments have been
corrupted, re: F is now C. I have also determined that the file
<windows\system32\config\system>
is missing. Note that my original Bootsector Drive was <f> but now is <C>.

One possibility is to rename the file <system.bak> which is present. Another
is
to copy the <system> file from the satellite PC and insert it in the problem
PC. Frankly I have no idea whether either of these ideas will work nor do I
know
how to perfom either task.

I would be most appreciative if someone can assist me with this problem.
................Thanks to all who have or will address this problem.

Thanks Ted. I do not find the answers to my problem in the suggested
reference. I need to know how to replace the missing system file which, if
present should allow my system to boot up.
