Help reaming of file

I had to reinstall windows xp. Now I have for example "all users.0" or
something like that. I want to get rid of the extension at the end of the
folder name, but Windows xp home will not let me do this. Help please.

Does the extension matter? Does it stop Windows functioning? I shouldn't
think so.
if it ain't broke, why fix it?
